Read through and familiarize yourself with the entire activity. Gather the dominos and other materials.

Cut long pieces of string for each group.

Preview the \"30 Minutes of Dominoes Falling!\" YouTube video (link below). Decide how much of the video you would like to share with the group.

Show the students a domino. Ask what dominoes can be used for. Then ask if any of the students have ever used them to build a domino track.
Show the students the \"30 Minutes of Dominoes Falling!\" YouTube video of domino tracks. Have the students explain how to set up the dominos so that they will fall one after another based on what they saw in the video.
Tell the students that today they are going to be part of a series of domino challenges and will build their own unique domino track.
Break the students into small groups. Pass out dominos and have each group go to a desk or table.
Challenge each group to create a domino track where a domino will fall off a cliff, or the end of their desk or table.
As a whole group, test each track to see if it meets the challenge.
Pass out a string, bell, and tape to each group. Have each group tie their bell to the end of the string. Then have them use the tape to hang their bell from something around the room, such as a chair, so it hangs at about domino height.
Then challenge the groups to create a domino track that rings the bell. Have each group knock down their domino track to see if they completed the challenge.
Pass out a board (or other material) to use as a ramp and books to prop up the ramp.
Give the students their final challenge: to set up a track where the dominos climb up the ramp. Have each group prop their ramp up against the books and then build their track. Then, have each group knock down their domino track to see if their track has completed the challenge.
For the final part of the activity, allow groups to create their own domino track any way they choose. Their goal should be to make the track as creative as possible, while still being able to knock all of their dominos down. They may use any materials within reason in the room to help create their track. Ask the students to leave their dominos standing at the end of their work time because all of the groups will be observing each other's tracks.
Have all of the groups gather around each track and have each group knock down their dominos.
To wrap up the activity, lead a discussion using the following questions:
- What was your favorite part of another group's domino track? What did you like about it?
- What was the most challenging part of setting up your domino tracks?
- What skills did you need to use to work with your group and set up a successful domino track?
