Ask all of the student groups for some examples of their inventions. What kind of name ideas do they have for their inventions?
Have students brainstorm individually in their notebook some names they would like for their invention. Here are some examples of questions to ask that can help generate ideas:
- Does the name of your invention give you an impression of what it is?
- Does your name explain what your invention does?
- Does your name sound exciting?
- Is your name a made up word?
- Is your name a lot like the name of another invention or product?
- Is your invention named after something?
- Did you name your invention after yourself?
- Does your invention’s name appeal to the person who would use it?
Have students get into groups and either tell the group the name they chose, or discuss several names that they need help narrowing down. What would their group members recommend, based on the list of questions?
Once they have chosen one name, have individual students make a drawing of the logo in their notebooks. The logo should be appealing and easy to read.
