Children are familiar with many wild animals, but only from picture books or other media or visits to zoos and aquariums. For this reason, animals help introduce children to the idea that the world is larger and more diverse than their own neighborhoods and communities. In this activity, children impersonate a variety of animals as they play a version of charades. In addition, they practice skills in movement and speech as they learn more about the animal kingdom.
