Overview

In this activity, students learn about the digital footprint they create when they access the internet. They begin by looking at a sample digital footprint and considering how our online presence leaves impressions, or traces, just like our physical presence does. They create lists of places they have been online and use those lists to illustrate their own digital footprints. Students analyze the footprints to assess what kinds of information they have made public and consider how that information is permanent and accessible. Finally, students visit each other’s footprints to see how their digital interactions connect them.
